St. Avertin is a suburb southeast of Tours. Avertin (or Aberdeen) was a Scottish monk came to France with Saint Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury. This city was once carried names Venciacum then Vençay (14th century). Its inhabitants are called Avertinois St. and St. Avertinoises.
